Dr. Steven Bupp is a board-certified psychiatrist with over 35 years of experience in behavioral health, clinical pharmacology, and medical research. He earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed both his psychiatry residency and a research fellowship in clinical pharmacology through the same institution.

Dr. Bupp has served as Medical Director at several of Tucson’s leading behavioral health centers and currently oversees care at Sonora Behavioral Health Hospital and the Arizona Center for Brain Stimulation. Since 1990, he has also led Southwest Biomedical Research, and as of 2024, serves as a Principal Investigator at Del Sol Research Management.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Bupp has contributed to more than 60 psychiatric and neurologic clinical trials, with a research portfolio spanning major depressive disorder, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, substance use disorders, binge eating disorder, and insomnia. He is widely published and recognized for his work in psychopharmacology and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).

Dr. Bupp continues to bring evidence-based innovation to the field of mental health through his leadership in clinical research and patient-centered psychiatric care.
